Jason's birthday - part 2 - animal adventures

For Jason's birthday, we wanted to do something different so we headed to Animal Adventures. This place was definitely a diamond in the rough. They had everything from chickens to aligators..... snakes to a bobcat! And the kids got to touch so many different animals. They even had kaoties like in Mexico!!

Jason's birthday - part 1 - kids party!

We celebrated Jason's birthday with his friends the week before his birthday at Gymboree. He had an absolute blast as did all his guests young (3 mos old) and old (7 yrs old)! We of course did a spiderman theme for cake and ice cream :)

Happy Halloween!!

Well we didn't have any snowstorms to start off the Halloween week.... but still had to contend with Hurricane Sandy! Luckily the skies were clear by Halloween. Nicholas announced he did not want to put on his costume and go trick or treating this year.... but as soon as he saw the first kids come to grandpa's door to collect candy, he couldn't get dressed quick enough. The 3 houses he originally agreed to visit soon turned into almost 15!! Needless to say the boys had a great night but were quite crany the next morning after going to bed late and all the sugar withdrawl from the day before :)

The boys were both Hiccup from the How to Train Your Dragon movie (aka Vikings!). Life is so much easier when they are both the same character -- no fighting over costumes or props!!

Thanks to Grandpa and Nana for hosting us again this year. They have such a wonderful neighborhood with lots of sidewalks and lots of neighbors that give out lots of candy!!

Overdue updates from the Boys :)

We are way overdue to send out some updates to our friends and family :)

The boys watching movies in their Mickey Mouse pull out couch from Grammie Beals......

The boys having fun playing with a salamander Dad brought home from his day of golfing ......

Niholas hangin' on the couch with his 'little tv'

Pony rides on Dad.....

Jason is getting ready for vacation!!

Pony rides when Dad isn't home aren't quite as fun.....

but atleast they take turns :)

Fire Marshall Jay --- yes the vac can double as a fire hose!

Goodbye pool season :(

It was a great pool season this year! Nicholas learned how to swim under water and started jumping off the diving board. Jason started 'jumping' off the diving board too but more importantly started doing the doggie paddle to swim on his own!

Nicholas' 3 year old stats

Nicholas passed his 3 year checkup with flying colors! He didn't even cry when he had to have his finger pricked for a lead test! Here are his latest stats:

                                 weight = 36 lbs = 84th percentile
                                 height = 39 inches = 79th percentile

A day at the beach!

Although Mom completely enjoyed a whole day to herself, I think the boys had even more fun going to the beach with Dad and Auntie Aimee and Kylie. Uncle Jimmy and Auntie Karin even came down to get in on the fun!

Happy 3rd Birthday Nicholas!

This year was the first time we hosted a kids party for Nicholas' birthday. The weather didn't end up being very nice but Nicholas still had a blast with a traveling baby petting zoo set up in the garage and bouncy houses in the backyard. The petting zoo was a huge hit with the kids with baby ducks, baby chicks, baby bunnies, baby goats, a baby sheep and even a baby pot belly pig! Nicholas chose a shark themed party and it was a great choice! We had shark cupcakes for the kids party and then a shark cake for the family party afterwards. Hosting two parties in one day was very tiring! We were fortunate enough to have a photographer come for the kids party so we could really enjoy the event without having to worry about capturing all the excitement. SO worth it when it only cost us a trade of old clothes and toys the boys have grown out of. On Nicholas' actual birthday, we took the morning off from work and took him to the ecotarium. After experiencing our first three year old tantrum, Nicholas got to spend the rest of the day at work with Dad and just went into daycare to share cupcakes with his friends before heading home for cake and his favorite dinner - chicken nuggets and french fries :)
